Plan Ahead! do not sweat it..

As I began to work in the education field, I couldn't help to noticed that every time I was assigned to a different classroom, every teacher gave a pretest or post-assessment to the students before teaching the new material. I was a little puzzled, because I didn't understand why at that time. During that time I did not ask much questions until I was hired in a high school where I was assigned to one teacher as a Teacher Assistant. I asked my co teacher why test them before and she answered me with a very good explanation, it all made sense to me then. Learning about Formative Assessment benefits, really made me understand it more thoroughly. it is a way to help us understand the students needs and struggles. Having the opportunity to test them before teaching the material is a good benefit for us, because we get to see what they already know and where we can focus the learning on instead.
