Plan Ahead! do not sweat it..

As I began to work in the education field, I couldn't help to noticed that every time I was assigned to a different classroom, every teacher gave a pretest or post-assessment to the students before teaching the new material. I was a little puzzled, because I didn't understand why at that time. During that time I did not ask much questions until I was hired in a high school where I was assigned to one teacher as a Teacher Assistant. I asked my co teacher why test them before and she answered me with a very good explanation, it all made sense to me then.

Learning about Formative Assessment benefits, really made me understand it more thoroughly. it is a way to help us understand the students needs and struggles. Having the opportunity to test them before teaching the material is a good benefit for us, because we get to see what they already know and where we can focus the learning on instead. By reviewing their test scores we are able to modify our lessons to their needs and attention. We, teachers are able to plan ahead according to the low and high scores and levels that our students are in. Students are able to reflect and evaluate their answers with both the pretest and real test, and students can discuss their answers with other peers.

Being able to have the opportunity to assess our students often can help both the student and teachers. Along with that, technology is the main tool to help us get organize along with helping us communicate with one another.

One Tech app that I would love to try once I'm a Certified Teacher would be Socrative. Because, of this application, it will help me get organize with students test scores and assignment grades that I will be able to share results with students and parents. I will also, be able to create post-assessments for my students due to easy planning and more focused work.

Using Formative Assessment tools are a very great tool, as all teachers must use in order to make their classrooms paperless and more TECH READY! 💻
